EPCS: What if I already did EPCS onboarding?

If you already registered for electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS), you will have completed identity proofing, added your tokens to your account, and created a passphrase (password) to electronically prescribe controlled substances (EPCS). You may also see this EPCS registration process called EPCS onboarding or EPCS enrollment. Token management within is most often stressed within this process.

If you are a provider being invited for electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS) at a new or existing location, you will receive an email invitation to go through the following:

  1. Identity proofing (IDP)

    • If you already completed EPCS enrollment for another location, you may be able to skip this step, as long as you remember your passphrase and have a token associated to your account.

  2. Associating your token(s) to your EPCS account

    • If you already completed EPCS enrollment for another location, you may be able to skip this step, as long as you remember your passphrase and have a token associated to your account.

  3. Create a passphrase (password) that is specific for EPCS.

  4. Logical Access Control (LAC)

Note: You will only be eligible to skip identity proofing and EPCS registration if you have token(s) that are actively registered on your account. Otherwise, you will not be able to skip these steps.

If you are able to skip identity proofing and EPCS registration:

  1. Click the link on your registration email invitation to populate the EPCS Gold Provider Dashboard.
