EMR Enhancements
Caseload - Compliance Report - Sort by Admission/Discharge Date
What's New: Caseload → Compliance Report now supports more sorting options; by Admission Date and by Discharge Date.
Why It Matters: Caseload → Compliance Reports is a heavily viewed area used by clinicians to check what documentation needs to be done when.
Who It's For: This sort feature is useful for compliance checks and clinicians attempting to quickly identify when patients are admitting and discharging with respect to the documentation that needs to be completed.
How to Use It: No action is required by the user. Navigate to Caseload → Compliance Reports and click the + Advanced drop down to view the Order By values.
Medication Protocols - Implement Offset Days for Medication Scheduling
What’s New: Sunwave now supports templated and standardized start dates for medication scheduling through Protocol Manager. Users no longer have to calculate start dates individually.
Why It Matters: This enhancement allows Providers to schedule medications through Protocol Manager to start a predefined number of days after the Protocol Start Date. The implementation of offset days permits Tapers to be more easily built with standardized future scheduled start dates.
Who It’s For: This enhancement is for Medical Directors, Directors of Nursing and other medical professionals who can now build Protocols which will automatically calculate the start date of the associated PRNs and Medications referencing their “Offset Days”
EX: Taper A starts on 2/12, PRN B has an Offset Days value of 3. Users presses “fill all with start date”. PRN B will have a start date of 2/15.
How to Use It: This feature is only available to users with “Access Protocol Manager” checked off in their user profile.
Using a patients chart, navigate to Current Medications → Create Order. Select Protocol Manager
Scroll down to “Protocol Manager” and click Manage and Create Orders to view protocol manager. Select a Protocol to view the configuration with new “Offset Days” field. This field will automatically calculate the start date the specified number of days after the start of the protocol.
Offset Days is available for Tapers, Standard Medication Orders and PRN Orders.
For a medication with Offset Days specified, Sunwave will automatically start this medication after the specified number of days have passed. In the example above, the patient will be on Buprenorphine/Naloxone High Taper for 5 days, before transitioning to a Standard taper on Day 6.
This feature also accommodates Standard Orders & PRN’s
PRNs:
The PRN of Ativan will be immediately available on order creation, while the Advil will only be available 5 days after the order start date.
When ordering medication through a Create Order in a patients chart, you can view the Taper and all associated medication orders with their offsets as part of the standard ordering process
Select “Fill all Start On with this date” to push the start date through all associated orders. Any specified offset values will be calculated
View all associated orders. Notice that the taper begins on 2/11/2025 but the associated standard orders and PRN orders will all reference the configured offset days for their start date.
The Ativan PRN below has no offset day specified and so will start with the taper start date.
These orders will appear as normal in the Active and PRN Active Orders of the “Current Medications” tab.
The Month View of the MOR/MAR may be referenced to review the entire schedule of the clients medication from a single taper.
Please note, there will be future PRN’s present in the PRN Orders section. Yellow indicates this PRN is for the future.
